In the early days of the Heaven Branch, a lady reached out to us after the death of her husband. He was a devoted Sunderland fan, but she wasn’t familiar with the club or traditions. She simply wanted to honour him at his funeral with something that reflected the love he had free steam. She asked where she could find a Sunderland coffin flag – and truthfully, there wasn’t an obvious answer – so we had one made. That small act of remembrance grew into something far greater.

We now offer a flag loan service for families who wish to include Sunderland AFC in their loved ones farewell but may not know where to begin, or may not have the means to purchase a flag.

Funerals can come unexpectedly with an overwhelming cost, and this is one way we try to ease both the financial burden and the emotional stress.

We now have 6 flags and designs include, the classic Sunderland ship crest, the current Club crest and smaller version for children’s coffins.
